I wonder often lately if I should just step down.
What could be so bad that it justifies enduring this? Melyndra Destra's disappointment? THe Queen's? Perhaps she would be relieved. My mother's knowing look, when I come crawling home after all of this, after all? You see, Raezi? This is what comes of settling in cities and surrounding yourself with so many strangers. You were always meant for the sands.
And then there would be one less target on display for them when the hunger comes gnawing, demanding its due.
